Understanding Lethbridge

North, South and West Lethbridge make up the City of Lethbridge.

The Oldman River separates North and South Lethbridge from the West.

The typical route from South Lethbridge to West Lethbridge is 6th Avenue South on the South side, across the bridge on Whoop Up Drive.  The bridge has recently been widened with a new lane built from space given up from the old pedestrian walkway.  The new pedestrian walkway has recently been completed..

Here are a few more driving in Lethbridge facts that will help the Lethbridge newcomer (or oldtimers who need to give information to visitors):  

• The streets of Lethbridge run north and south; the avenues run east to west.
• You can take 13th Street from 16th Avenue South north to the Hardieville.  This street takes no twists and turns to confuse you.
• While on 13th Street you'll notice an overhead bridge.  On one side of the bridge you are on the southside of Lethbridge and on the other side of the bridge, you are on the north.
• The Crowsnest Trail, Scenic Drive, and 6th Avenue South are handy roads to begin your local driving trips.  Getting a sense of direction can be confusing on Scenic as it generally runs at an angle to the streets and avenues.  (See the curving black line just south of the Oldman River.  Note how Scenic Drive somehow follows the shape of the river.)
• Mayor Magrath Drive turns into 23rd Street on the northside.
• Stafford Drive turns into 9th Street on the northside.
