As a Kiwanian, she annually assisted with the Kiwanis Music Festival. For her work with new Canadians, particularly those from her native Philippines, she was awarded the Celebrate Canada Citizenship Award in 1998. In 2008 she was presented with the Allied Arts Council Individual Award of Excellence for outstanding support of the arts. During her first 20 years in Canada, Minda put her bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from the Far Eastern University in Manila to good use working in the McGill Neurological Institute, Ottawa and St. John’s General Hospitals and conducting research in Nutritional Biochemistry at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Minda is married to Robert Rogerson, a retired university professor and administrator who works as an educational consultant and part-time professor at the University of Victoria. Their eldest daughter, Neriza Wallace, is a realtor with Sutton Group in Lethbridge, Alberta. Their youngest daughter Luiza teaches English language in Murcia, Spain together with their grandson, Dylan. |
